Protein Bars

This week I was inspired to create my own PROTEIN BARS… there are so many bars out there in the stores and choosing ones that are the most NATURAL and less processed can be difficult! These bars are easy to make and you know EXACTLY what is going inside them!  They are great for any meal and are BALANCE to ensure the proper macro nutrients for YOU!

Ingredients:

4 cups rolled oats

2/3 cup chopped nuts (any you like)

2 scoops vanilla protein powder

2 tbsp flax seed or ground flax

1 tbsp cinnamon

10 tbsp organic honey

1 orange juiced

Directions: On a lined baking sheet place rolled oats and nuts in oven at 375 degrees for 10 minutes or until toasted.  Take out and combine oats, nuts, protein and flax together.  Then slowly add in honey until mixture feels like it is sticky and binds together well (you might need to warm up honey in microwave for 20 seconds if its too sticky to work with).  Then place entire mixture on baking sheet and evenly spread out to make about a 1/3 inch thick.  Take out to cool for about 10 minutes and cut squares while it’s still warm (but not HOT). Should make about 16 bars.  Then let completely cool and your homemade Fit-Oat Bars are READY!

Nutritional Info: (Appox.per bar) 185 calories, 28g carohydrates, 7g protein, 6g fat, 10g sugar
